Gas sensors
The CENAM´s research group focuses on the development and characterization of advanced thin film gas sensors based on semiconducting metal oxides. A core area of interest is innovative chemiresistive sensors with capacitor-like electrode arrangements and multifunctional „gasistor“ devices that combine gas sensing with resistive switching in a single structure. These devices offer unique functionalities, such as gas-triggered switching and integrated memory for sensing history. The group emphasizes lowering detection limits through the implementation of large-area nanoporous platinum electrodes, which enhance gas accessibility and sensitivity. In parallel, research is dedicated to understanding the operating mechanisms of gasistors, particularly their continuous resistive switching behavior, with the goal of utilizing this effect for analog memory applications.
